well its been a couple days and the school has finally gotten started and is in full swing. We are doing evangelism throughout the week in the form of soup kitchens and feeding breakfast to the needy and working something called "youth street" which is working with kids in areas like sports, skating, dance and stuff such as that. There is also going to be a time for straight evangelism which is going to be very interesting. The weekend was cool, we went to hillsong, that was an....experience? The most interesting thing that has happened is seeing the ways that God has been testing me and trying to understand my purpose on this base. He has really been testing my biblical knowledge and I have had countless conversations/debates about biblical topics. It has been very frustrating but at the same time is cementing me and testing me. I am finding a purpose in instilling a want for biblical knowledge in this base, as opposed to just looking for the newest emotional Jesus high to ride out. This has been causing me to read and study more than I ever have before and I am really encouraging everyone else to do the same. Everyone is extremely cool though, and I am soaking in as much as I can about other cultures. WE FRIED REAL BACON LAST NIGHT WHEN EVERYONE WAS ASLEEP AND MADE BLTS!! IT WAS AMAZING AND IF ANYONE READS THIS AND WANTS TO SEND ME REAL BACON YOU ARE MY BEST FRIEND!!!! Oh and David Ramirez, if you read this, I want you to know that my scabs have made for great stories and they are finally starting to go away. I love you. my fave restaraunt is this place called OPORTOs which is too hard to explain. Pray for me in every area, especially strength and wisdom in dealing with trying situations, pray for energy as well, I am exhausted. We do not stop doing stuff from 7am to 8 pm most days. I love you all and miss you all. Also, if anyone could send me any cs lewis books or maybe No Compromise (the story of Keith Green), I would be super happy. FINE, I will tell you all a story I made up before I go. There once was a fish, his name was ronald freagan. Ronald had a problem with flying, as most young fish do. He could not fly as well as he could walk. So he created a boat to fly off the side of a hill. Because this boat was so light, it sank to the bottom and green goo went everywhere. He became frustrated and began to spit on people. After loads of loogies, a dragon sat next to him named dillard millmore. After years of fights, the 2 became friends and the dragon explained that to fly all he needed was the rotten star of grandolite. So ronald fetched the rotten star and put it in his boat and flew. THE END. Goodnight all,
In Christ,
Joe

Samoans
2 more days have gone by and plenty of interesting stuff has happened. We still had a day before school started yesterday so we took a train to the dock and saw the beautiful sydney harbor.
The opera house is incredible looking and we ate some Sydney food. The food they have around here is interesting because they have a lot of british influenced foods such as fish and chips, but
they also have everything else you can imagine with a high emphasis on asian food. Everything is really expensive out here.Really interesting city too. I have never seen anything like it before now. It was huge and the train system was really
confusing. We opted not to ask anyone for directions and it took maybe a tiny tiny bit longer to get places, ok fine we spent most of the day at the train station trying to figure out what trains to get on
but that was part of the experience. ANYWAYS, boring stuff is over now onto the interesting part. There are people from practically every part of the world here, koreans and taiwanese, germans and scottish,
canadians and dutch, it is realllly interesting to get to know all these people and their lesser cultures. They do everything wrong so I am working on teaching them all on how to do things right. We had our
first session tonight, and we kinda got an idea of what everything is going to be like. SUPER busy. The Lord was really speaking to me tonight during the first worship session. They had a few tribal dances which
was so awesome seeing how other people around the world worship the Lord. We were all supposed to wear cultural things and dress nice. I wore short shorts and a pistons jersey. Needless to say
I was the best dressed. The best part of the night was at the end. They called all of us men up to be leaders and warriors for Christ. This is really exciting to me. They are calling us men to be MEN and not
girly girls. This is something I have long stressed to be lacking in the world these days. The most interesting part was at the very end. All of us guys were standing near the stage and they said for us to
stand back a little or we were gonna get hit, we had no idea what they meant. Imagine a huge Samoan jumping at you and yelling at you extremely loud in another language and is so close that his spit from yelling is landing on your face. This happened to me.
He was doing a tribal ritual calling us men to be warriors, but for some reason he was focused on me. I stood my ground though and didnt flinch, though my buddy bryce jumped 10 feet in the air. That was quite the experience and I wish everyone
could have seen that. I was not scurred though. I really feel like that is something that God is calling all men to be, leaders and warriors for his name. Watch that be the ongoing theme during these entries and I really hope that I see growth in that area.
So I really need prayer in that area (hint hint) and just prayer that as we are just starting, we continue to keep our focus and learn to praise the Lord in everything we do. G'day mates.
In Christ,
Joe

Day 1 : Sydney
Well I made it and I am exhausted. The flight flew 15 hours and it was dark the entire time. I took sleeping pills and still did not sleep that great. Oh well I can handle it because I am a man. It is 330 am my old time and 530 pm Australia time. My goal is to make it to at least 930 before I go to sleep, which should not be too hard because I am a man. The base is a lot different than I expected, it reminds me of like a cabin from a church camp. Sydney is very pretty though, it is currently about 50 degrees Fahrenheit so I am bundlin up. God has already been showing Himself in little ways throughout the day, it is kind of difficult to explain on here, but He has already made it very apparent that it was the right choice for me to go on this trip and serve Him. I need to keep my focus and I need prayer for that! From what I can tell I am going to be busy sunup to sundown every day of the week. The city is all sorts of messed up though, they drive on the wrong side of the road, the toilets spin backwards, and bacon is just fried slices of ham to them. I am going to show them the right way to do all of these things. Just got called for dinner, so I will write later.

Cordial Greetings
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I am new to this so called "blogging", yet it has been strongly requested that I scribe about my journeys throughout the foreign land known as Australia. I will attempt to discuss the elements of my journey in a timely manner and I hope I can encourage you all through what God teaches me. Thank you and God bless,
Josiah Hindy
